This is nice in that it is small and has many features. However, the AM reception indoors is nonexistent, and the indoor FM reception is just adequate, even with the antenna fully extended. I live in a large metropolitan area and there are many powerful AM stations, and I can tune none inside. Three or four of the most powerful FM stations come in adequately. I would not recommend it for indoor use during a storm or power outage. I think I'll keep mine in the car and order the CC emergency radio for use indoors.

Just received this today from Amazon. This is a sweet little radio and the quality is great. I like the rubbery texture too it so it feels good when holding it and it won't slip out of your hands. I had great reception on the radio even after only cranking it for a minute or so. All stations in my area I got perfectly fine in AM and FM, Orlando, FL. The light worked great too, just enough to do whatever you need to do. Also the main reason I got this was to be able to charge my iPhone in an emergency, I plugged the iPhone cable into the USB slot, started cranking and viola the iPhone charged just fine. You have to continuously crank to charge it, which is fine, it's for an emergency and you should only need a minute or two for making a call. But it worked and that's all I wanted. I'll be carrying it around to try out different areas of the city too. Haven't tried the solar charger yet, but I will soon. BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

This is a great calculator for any basic function. first saw it at my local bank. I liked it so much I had to have one of my own. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles but it does have a neat little tax rate function where you can enter any % and it will hold it into memory. I may purchase a second one in fear that it will go away at some point.



It is dual powered and I never had a problem with the display in any type of lighting condition.



It is well built and the keys are really responsive, resulting in near flawless entry everytime.

I got one of these at our local REI store and took it on a 3 day trip to the Grand Canyon. While it states it takes a while to make a full charge...the solar panel is extremely weak and would not charge my iphone with 4 hours of sun. It has to have DIRECT sun exposure...if even a tree twig is in front of the panel it will not charge up. I was very disappointed, as I wanted to use my iphone to listen to music on the way up. The LED light notification system is VERY hard to understand...it looks easy...but in real world situations it is not. If you are even thinking about getting this for emergency back up.....keep looking. I was really hoping for a solid product especially coming from a more established company...but unfortunately the product just didn't work to even my lowest expectations. :( I have since returned it in hopes to find a good solar charger........

Bought this charger for my two Motorola (mini-usb charging) phones. The device works flawlessly. Pulls a full charge in 8-10 hours of Florida sunlight. It seems to store the charge for a long time too. Really no complaints about the Solio.



The issue I'm having is with my cell service provider - Verizon Wireless. They put their own buggy, proprietary software on the phones which sees the Solio as an "UNAUTHORIZED CHARGER" and doesn't allow the device to power my phones. (Even though the hardware works!) This is most frustrating. If I wasn't signed into a two-year agreement with them, I would switch providers ASAP.



If you need a charger while you're hiking, camping or spending lots of time outdoors, the Solio is great. If you need to use your phone while you're at it, heed my warning - avoid Verizon at all costs!

This little device haves plenty of uses. Already tested, charging more than 12 different cellphones: Blackberry (Pearl, Bold, Gemini, Javelin (tip not included)) Nokia (6110, 6265, N95, E71) Motorola (Razr) and LG / Samsung from friends. Works flawlesly, charging from a computer took like 5 hours.



The Sun, in my area is very shiny, like 7 and half hours of direct exposure do the job. You need to aim directly to the sun in order to obtain the proper charge. Works in cloudy days but needs more time to be fully charged (like 2 or 3 more hours)



The price, i think that is not cheap, but is a very well finished device. Worth it.



I'm waiting my new nüvi 500, in order to do some testing, no info about gps charging performance, yet.



It's an eye catching device, maybe the orange...



Very recommended unit, well finished and with plenty of accesories available.



If the people at Solio release an unit, capable to feed a netbook (25 to 30 watts) that would be a perfect combo.

Great product - flexible since the Solio can be charged through an outlet or via sunlight. Big complaint is that there isn't a cover for the bottom solar panel - you can't see this in the product pics. Solio should really design a clip-on cover (or something) to protect that panel, and then this product would be perfect.

I would have to say they only thing I thought that was a bit odd was the word "Magnesium" in the title. I mean I thought I was buying a tuff Magnesium device. This is not made of solid Magnesium but rather a thin Magnesium coat.



The unit works great and is pretty light.



I would recommend it. A top product and looking forward for more things like this to come out.

I use the Solio to charge my iPhone 3G. I had to buy the special iGo charging tip, but it works fine.



I was a little disappointed that the Solio takes quite awhile to charge, however. In one afternoon on a typical day here in New England, I found it charged only about 20%.



Then I figured I might be able to get a better charge if I kept it aimed at the sun a little better. The only mechanism they give you to do this is a pencil! But I have a mini tripod I don't use very often, so I attached it to a railing and then jerry-rigged the Solio to the tripod using a heavy duty elastic. (See Customer Photos above.) Whenever I go in or out, I just swivel the Solio a little to point it at the sun.



I don't have enough data to say how much faster it charges (the system of "flashes" is not very accurate), but it's a fun and handy way to position the Solio. If I were to redesign the product, I would definitely add a tripod mount!

Bought this two weeks ago and I'm pretty impressed with it (my expectations were not huge given other reviews and research). But it does what is says and is a cool concept.



Warning - will not charge a Palm Pre without an additional 10 dollar adapter (the A138) which isn't even sold by Solio. They said to try igo(dot)com or The Shack (Radioshack). Charges a blackberry 8300 and my sansa clip just fine. Would like the solar recharging time to be faster, which will only be a matter of time as technology improves.

I received this as a gift, and was quite excited when I first got it. It seemed to work very well, it charged from the lamps in my house, it had many different kinds of connectors and it was a very handy size. But, as soon as I started to use it, I realized how poorly made it really was. The seller claims that it will work for any BlackBerry, but it wouldn't work for my Curve 8310 from the beginning. On top of that, the BlackBerry connector broke after just a few attempted uses. I have tried it on my iPod, and it gets the job done, but the battery doesn't last very long and it takes about 7 hours if you want to charge from solar. It does charge from three sources, but charge time isn't very good. The quality of the product is quite poor also. I was reading the labeling on the device, and some of the lettering was upside down. The device will tell me that it is fully charged when I push the "Status" light, but I will then plug it in and it charges for hours. The thing really isn't well made. Don't buy it. The thing is more trouble then it's worth.

Purchased product from vendor and it worked for two charges before failing. I was not able to charge it up again with the solar option. Vendor exchanged device for another one. So far I've been able to complete two charges. It takes something to recharge the battery pack with the solar charge.

A solar charger for cellphones and personal electronics is a great idea, but this product falls short of greatness in several important respects.



Putting power in: the solar charging aspect of this is kind of a gimmick. I guess if you knew were going to be out in the desert holding still for hours under a blazing sun you might be able to depend on the little solar panel for some juice, but for most uses you'll have to plug this thing in somewhere. Unfortunately, that requires using a special cable. So if you forgot or misplaced the only cable in the world that will charge it you won't be able to charge this battery. If you lose their power-in cable, you'll have to buy another one from the manufacturer.



Taking power out: you also need a different special cable to get the power out of this thing, since it uses a female mini usb out the likes of which I've never seen before. Normal usb to mini usb cables won't do you any good. If you lose their special power-out cable, you'll have to buy another one from the manufacturer.



Small design: I like the look of this battery, but that small size is deceiving since you can't do anything with it unless you have the special cables mentioned above. It's also slippery to hold on to.



Rapid drain: the battery drains all by itself very quickly, so you can't just charge it up and depend on it being charged when you need it.



Suggestions for the manufacturer: make this battery work with conventional cables for both input and output; figure out how to make the battery hold a charge better.



Suggestion for consumers: take a look at the Powersource Mobile Mini by Xantrex. It's not solar, but it holds triple the charge and has a built in mini usb output that's perfect for recharging RAZR's, etc, on the go.

I really like this product. I like the fact that this will give me extra battery for my ipod, cell phone,ect . It has many adapters that will fit many devices. It is especially great if you are going to be away from civilization for a few days.

It will give your devices a charge without electricity and you can recharge the Solar Power Boost with the sun to give another device a charge. A great product for emergencies (like getting stalled with your car and realizing your cell phone battery is dead)

Great device for the iphone. This is a back up battery and a little power factory. The battery can be charged by just putting it in sunlight. On cloudy days it still recharges but not as well. In that case I can plug it into the wall or the commputer to recharge it. Once recharged I can power my iphone when that battery gets low
